This is the special de-husked version of Carafa Type 2.
Weyermann® Carafa® Special Type 2 is a dark-roasted specialty malt made from high-quality spring barley. Where malt-based bitterness is not desired, Weyermann® Carafa® Special Type 2 is a perfect fit. Weyermann® use a unique process where the husks are removed from carefully selected grains before malting and roasting them.
As the de-husked version of Carafa®, it produces rich colour, body, flavour and aroma without the harsh flavours and astringency typical of dark-coloured grains. Adds coffee-brown color, a coffee-like bouquet, dark beer aroma, as well as body and mouthfeel to finished beer but without introducing harsh flavors.
